Tapcast strongly encourages adherence to some type of naming convention for your audiences and ad campaigns.
Audiences
A strong naming convention is particularly important for audiences, since you want to be able to easily attribute performance results to an audience’s targeting spec, that is, the dimensions or Blocks that compose it. Having a name that identifies its composition would help to that end. Tapcast recommends this simple format:
<date> <Block1> AND <Block2> … (Gender/Age/Location)*
*Gender, age, and location need only be identified if any of these filters is applied.
Here are some examples:
- 0306 (Vegetarian) AND (Dieter) (W 25-54)
- 0615 Lookalike 1% Leads AND (Parents)
- 0423 Lookalike 1% Sales (W 25-54 California)
Campaigns
Campaigns can be organized around various principles, such as objective (Leads, Sales, etc.), geography (city, region, etc.), or multiple such factors. Whatever your organizing principles are, the campaign name should clearly communicate that. Including the date of creation is also helpful. Here are some examples:
- 0706 San Francisco Leads
- 0417 New York Sales Launch
- 0312 Fitbit Collaboration - Sales
